Double page spread

I first had to make the lay out for my double page spread (dps) I wanted 6 columns across the 2 pages however this changed after the photo shoot. In the photo shoot I took pictures that i had already planned out to fit my dps however I took a couple of other ones as well and it turned out that I preferred them to the original idea. This means I had to change the layout to 3 columns on one page and have the photo on the other. This look better but then I had to think about where the text would go. 

I decided the put the header at the top right above the text it is very big so very obvious and bold so it will get noticed. There where a lot of different fonts I could go for so I decided to pic do impact this is so it gives you a bit of an illusion and this is what effect drugs can have on you. I thought for a while about the catchy line I would have and “overdose? Take a reality pill” was the best. It refers to media as a pill and saying to get of media and live in the real world. I then put my article into the dps and where there where quotes I put them in a red font and made them a little bigger so they stand out form the rest of the text as peoples opinions are very important in the nature of my article.

 I then went on to edit the photo I changed the levels and got ride of any blemishes. I also changed the hue slightly so it matched the front cover picture a little bit more, I had to put black lines across the top and the bottom of my pages to make it look more professional and more like the magazine I had been looking at. I changed the first letter of my article to be bigger and gave it an emboss look with red and black.  I used red and black as these are the colours I have used through out the magazine and also it gives it a sense of importance.  

Then I had to change the layout again to have a big just before the article to introduce it. Finally I had to make a break out box I did this by using the out line of an I phone this makes it link in a little bit more. I coloured it red and added quotes from people all in white. This means that the important facts and quotes are in there but there are still some through out the magazine. I put it at the left hand side at the top because people read from left to right so it’s the first thing they will read and it will instantly draw them in with the shocking facts. So there was a lot of changes I had to make to my original plan but now I feel happy with my double page spread.
